callback (command and control)

0001-01-01

In a command and control context, a callback occurs when agents, zombies, etc reach out to the command and control server to check in with the intent of confirming that the endpoint is still under control or to request additional work from the command and control server.

Callbacks may also be referred to as “beaconing”.
