closed guard

0001-01-01

In BJJ, the closed guard is a position in which the aggressor is on their back, with their legs wrapped around their opponent’s torso.

The closed guard is a classic BJJ position, offering a multitude of opportunities to sweep or submit an opponent, while minimizing damage from strikes.

Depending on the skill level of the player employing the guard compared to their opponent, closed guard can be an inferior, neutral, or dominant position.
