Cormac McCarthy was an American author of twelve novels, two plays, five screenplays, and three short stories of Western, post-apocalyptic and Southern Gothic genre.

He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, raised in Tennessee, attended the University of Tennessee, and was a USAF veteran.
