Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has different belt systems for adults and children. Some associations may vary slightly by assigning meaning to the color of a student’s rank bar, or by introducing additional belt colors.
Some associations may have requirements such as testing, attendance, etc., or may promote based off of merit. Some federations require a minimum time in rank. Belts in both adult and children’s systems require the recipient to be of a certain age before eligibility. Some instructors may award stripes, whereas some do not.
