Linux may give a false sense of security

Many people mistakenly believe that Linux is “more secure” than Windows for several reasons including but not limited to:

• open source allows the codebase to be audited, thus it is more secure.

• Windows is targeted by malware at a much higher rate than Linux.

• hackers and security professionals tend to use Linux, therefore it must be more secure.
