To enter the paper cutter grip from top half guard, tori controls uke’s near side wrist with their far hand, pulling uke’s arm to create space for tori to underhook uke’s near arm. As the underhook is being secured, tori pushes uke’s arm across, denying them the opportunity to defend against the underhook. Once the underhook is secured, tori applies chest to chest pressure, flattening out uke while pulling themselves into position to secure the grip behind uke’s neck.
