exponent

0001-01-01

In mathematics, exponentiation is an operation involving two numbers: the base, and the exponent (or power). The base is multiplied by itself exponent times; 2^4 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 = 16

The exponent is usually represented as a superscript to the right of the base. On computers, exponentiation is typically represented with the carrot (^) symbol: 2^3 (two to the third power).
