hidden files and directories

Most filesystem implementations have functionality to hide files, folders, and directories from casual observation.

This is often done in a benign manner to hide critical files and configurations so they aren’t mistakenly removed or modified by users.

Malware may abuse these features to avoid detection, anti-forensics, anti-analysis.
