The bow and arrow choke is a submission hold in BJJ, Judo (okuri eri jime) and other grappling martial arts that use a gi or kimono.
From back control, tori reaches in front of uke’s neck from the side, grabbing uke’s opposite lapel, thumb in. Tori can use their other hand to pull down on uke’s lapel like a zip tie, letting them sink the choking grip very deep.
Once the grip is deep and secure, tori slides their back across the mat towards uke’s feet, grabbing uke’s foot, or underhooking the leg if possible. The pressure from here applied to the choking hand is extreme if done properly.
