The kimura is a submission popular in BJJ, Judo, and other grappling martial arts that is also known as the double wristlock (catch wrestling), chicken wing (various forms of wrestling), and gyaku nde garami (Judo).
This submission simultaneously attacks the shoulder and elbow joints of the opponent and also can be used to control an opponent or transition into more advantageous positions.
Kimuras have been found in nearly grappling martial art over the span of the last several hundred years.
This lock is known as a kimura in BJJ due to Masahiko Kimura’s usage of the move against members of the Gracie family.
