omoplata thigh grip break

0001-01-01

A common defense to the omoplata is the uke cupping the top of their thigh/knee with their hand to prevent their shoulder from rotating into the submission.

To counter this, the tori can push the uke’s arm/hand up, disconnecting the frame uke has created with their hand then pull the hand away from the knee so it can’t re-grab, rather than trying to overcome the it with strength.
