package manager

0001-01-01

A package manager is a set of tools commonly found on Linux and Unix-like operating systems that helps with the automation of installing, updating, configuring, and removing software packages from the system.

Most Linux distributions ship with a default package manager, which can vary between distributions. For example, Debian-based distributions may use dpkg and aptitude while Redhat-based distributions may use RPM and yum.
